The Constitution is on life support...

Get a load of this!

New presidential directive gives Bush dictatorial power

National Security & Homeland Security Presidential Directive establishes "National Continuity Policy"

The National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive , signed on May 9, 2007 declares that in the event of a "catastrophic event", George W. Bush can become what is best described as "a dictator":

"The President shall lead the activities of the Federal Government for ensuring constitutional government."

This directive, completely unnoticed by the media, and given no scrutiny by Congress, literally gives the White House unprecedented dictatorial power over the government and the country, bypassing the US Congress and obliterating the separation of powers. The directive also placed the Secretary of Homeland Security in charge of domestic "security".

National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive

NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/NSPD 51

HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/HSPD-20

Subject: National Continuity Policy

Purpose

(1) This directive establishes a comprehensive national policy on the continuity of Federal Government structures and operations and a single National Continuity Coordinator responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of Federal continuity policies. This policy establishes "National Essential Functions," prescribes continuity requirements for all executive departments and agencies, and provides guidance for State, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector organizations in order to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency.

Definitions

(2) In this directive:

(a) "Category" refers to the categories of executive departments and agencies listed in Annex A to this directive;

(b) "Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions;...
Note the key word, economy.

As readers of my blog know, the economy is the Achilles heel of the United States of America[a]. The way that our system is structured is clearly unsustainable in the long term.

I fear that if this country suffers any disruption, the primary cause will be economic.

Think about it... if the government is willing and able to terminate the Rights of Men in family matters[b], what moral imperative does it have to protect the remainder of our Constitutional rights?

The Platonic state is coming.

THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF. That the president would be "given" dictatorial powers is not surprising to me anymore. That angers me- but NOT as much as the LACK OF SCRUTINY this getting from both the Media and the politicians in washington. As a matter of fact where are the liberal pundits on this matter?

The whole purpose of a free press is that they would be free to criticize the government and politicies that destroy the constitution. If they do not speak up they mind as well be run by the government. They are useless while free.

RIP CONSTITUTION!!! It was good to know you. Though you never realised full your ideals of the equality of man you were always moving towards them. Through the ages you were maturing and becoming a better Constition. But alas, your growth was dependant on people to retain your ideals. And as John Adams said:

"This constitution is fit for the governance of an educated and moral people only. It is totally inadequate to that of any other."

How true.

"Republics decline into democracies and democracies degenerate into despotisms."

It is a sad day tba.

But, as you say, I'm not surprised. We the people have been asleep for 40+ years.

We were given the forbidden fruit, and too many ate of the tree all too willingly, no questions asked.

Ah well...

We have to keep spreading the word!!

And never give in.

We are at the beginnig of the end of the past and the beginning af a whole new era.

We are witnesses now. And we must arm ourselves accordingly. They will come after our free speech.

We are soon to be classified terrorists.

"We are soon to be classified terrorists."

Yes we are.

But, don't despair! Every generation experiences its share of turmoil. I can say that in my lifetime (I'm only 30 years old) that I really haven't been called to do anything to defend liberty.

Until now.

I for one will continue to expose and criticize the powermad. They are gonna have to come and get me.

I will resist any unlawful dictatorship. My loyalty is to the Constitution of the United States and to the Bill of Rights, not to any man sitting in the Oval Office.

Fuck it.
